We're Off to a Great Start!

I'm beaming from ear to ear!
We had our first rehearsal today with the Bear, Wolves, and the Doctors. Amazing! Just when I was thinking this is a lot of work...I finally had a chance to work with the kids. It's all worth it! I love working with them. It's going to be wonderful. There is so much personality in the characters already. Thank you for going over the script before rehearsal. I'll see the Bear, Wolves, Farmers, and Owls next Wednesday!

Rehearsals!

Here is the much anticipated rehearsal schedule! The Jan. 9 rehearsal was cut short due to some absent actors. That means the next rehearsal will be very busy. Please go over your lines before Wednesday. Find out what Wednesdays you are expected to come. Click on the right for the schedules. Print it off and keep a copy.

New Cast

The consent forms are coming in! Our new cast will include the following characters:

2 Wolves

3 Raccoons
1 Racoon Dude
1 Skunk

3 Famers
1 Music Video Director

Plus, there will still some primary students who will play bear cubs, fruit, and soap!

Stay tuned for posted rehearsal schedules. Only the Bear and 2 Wolves need to come to the first Wednesday rehearsal in January. The rest will be posted here and on the Drama Board in the Main Hall.

Casting Call

Every student will have a chance to be in the play since they will be doing a group performance with their class. I made an announcement today at the assembly letting students know that I am now looking for the main characters and other speaking roles.

Play title: The Bare Necessities

Date of Performances: Thursday, March 13, 2008

What’s the play about? A lost Bear finds himself/herself in Vancouver. Other animals show the Bear the West Coast way of life. The theme is Healthy Living and Nutrition.

Who is in the play? All Bayview students are doing a group song or dance with their class. In addition, some students will be main characters with speaking roles. Students interested in these roles need to come to the casting call in the gym on Wednesday, December 5 at 12:05 p.m.

Important Dates for being a MAIN CHARACTER

1) Wednesday, December 5: Bring the completed form (your teacher has them) to Mrs. App at 12:05 in the gym. Listen to information about being a cast member. Ask any questions. Hand your completed sheet into Mrs. App before you leave the gym. (Extra forms will be available.)
2) Tuesday, Dec. 11: First Cast Draft posted on Drama Board
3) Wednesday, Dec. 12: 12:05 meeting in gym for cast to receive consent forms.
4) Friday, December 14: All consent forms are in Mrs. App’s box and the final Cast List is posted. Scripts will go home for some characters over the holidays.
5) Wednesdays, January to March: Cast rehearsals: BE THERE!

REMEMBER NOT EVERYONE WILL BE CHOSEN TO BE MAIN CHARACTERS. IF THIS IS NOT YOUR YEAR, I HOPE TO FIT YOU IN NEXT YEAR. EVERYONE IS STILL NEEDED FOR THE CLASS PERFORMANCES.

Casting Call

The Bare Necessities Script is finished! The Casting Call for main characters is Wednesday, November 5 after school (12:05) in the gym. Since I am teaching Kindergarten this year, Wednesday are my only day that I have overlapping lunches with the rest of the school. Thus, rehearsals will be on Wednesdays this year. I'll be answering questions and taking names of students interest in a speaking role on Nov. 5. Final choices will be made during the next week. After consent forms are signed, the cast will be posted on the Drama Board.

Almost Ready!

The Bare Necessities is almost finished. I'm still ordering the music score for a few songs. The Casting Call will be at the end of November or early December.

The Bare Necessities!

Finally, the title of this year's play is settled. The title is THE BARE NECESSITIES. It will be about a bear discovering health and nutrition on the West Coast. Note the term "will be." I haven't written it yet! No worries, I've been planning it in my head while rushing around at home with my little ones. I have finished finding the songs for the classes to perform. I know it will be great. The two performances will be the Thursday before Spring Break. I'll post the official date when I have a calendar by my side. Now, I need to write the script before December Auditions!
